Our Wood Carving Booth travelled western Canada for many years… we could be found at big events such as the Vancouver PNE, the Calgary Stampede, & Edmonton K-Days. We also visited many smaller Prairie and BC venues… A grand tradition of 33yrs at the Calgary Stampede, 17yrs at Edmonton Klondike days, and 28yrs at Vancouver’s Pacific National Exhibition!
Today our wood shop is settled amid the beauty of the West Coast Gulf Islands.

Our Story
We’ve Been Carving Signs Since 1978
Woodpecker Signs began in 1978 as an offshoot business of the world famous Bragg Creek Steak Pit Restaurant, located southwest of Calgary, AB.
Chief Woodpecker, Gordon Shoults started creating personalized carved wooden reservation signs for his restaurant customers. Everyone loved the special personal touch and could take the carved signs home as complimentary souvenirs, or leave them behind to be mounted on the restaurant’s Wall of Fame.
In over 40 years, these little plaques have literally made their way all over the globe. As the novelty took hold and the Woodpeckers gained more expertise, demand came in for larger & more creative signs suited to other purposes.
As the market grew, Gordon took the show on the road & has successfully made thousands of on-the-spot orders at various outdoor fairs & exhibitions throughout Western Canada.
